Join us for an evening of community and creativity as we explore the techniques of printmaking. Learn with one of Portland's premier local artists, Jennifer Foran.
During the class, students will have the opportunity to create a linocut print design of their choice. Students will take home their linocut carvings along with up to four coasters that can be embellished with colored pencils and water based wood stains.
Linocut is a printmaking technique using a sheet of linoleum to cut a design onto with carving tools (provided) with the raised (uncarved) areas representing a reversal (mirror image) of the parts to show printed. The linocut sheet is inked and then impressed onto wood.
This class is open to beginners as well as experienced printmakers who are interested in exploring their techniques. This class will be offered here at the Alberta Petite Hotel, a newly renovated, 100-year old Craftsman home that offers a welcoming, comfortable environment. We are conveniently located in the Alberta Arts District in NE Portland.
SUPPLIES
You won't need to bring anything besides yourselves. We'll provide all the tools you need. The tools and materials are included in the cost of the workshop.
Design ideas will be provided by Jennifer, but feel free to bring your own as well.
SKILL LEVEL
Whether you are a beginner or have some experience, enjoy the workshop.
WORKSHOP FEES
The workshop fee is $75 per person and includes the instructor's time and location. The material fee is $15 per person.
Eventbrite adds on a small processing fee.
Lite refreshments and snacks will be provided.
COVID-19 PROTOCLS
We require vaccinations to participate. Additionally, masking is highly recommended.
We have a high efficiency air filter we'll have running. We will add some airflow with open windows.
All surfaces and tools will be sanitized and we'll have hand sanitizer and wipes available.
We will continue monitoring the covid situation and may change protocols if needed.
